What is this?
TextJump is a quick and easy way to send text messages to cell phones for FREE. Keep in touch with friends & family w/quick, short text messages!

What is text messaging?
The purpose of a text message (sms message) is so that you can send short messages quickly to somebody on the go. As long as they have their cellphones, you can reach them quickly no matter where they are!

Will it cost me anything?
Nope, TextJump won't charge you a thing to send messages. Sending messages from our website and setting up a TJ Plus account are free. BUT, please keep in mind that the recipient of your message may receive a small fee from their cellphone provider to receive. It all depends on what type of plan they have for their cellphone service.

Why would I want a TJ Plus account?
A FREE TextJump Plus account will give you:
- replies sent to your own TJ Plus Inbox
- personal phonebook
- Sent msgs folder
- Party Send Feature now available!
- More to come...

Can they reply to me?
Yes! If you login w/your free TextJump Plus account you will be able to receive replies. These replies will arrive in your TJ Plus inbox. The Inbox is refreshed often and you can also check for new messages at any time. This new TJ Inbox results in faster texting to cellphones from our site. Send all you want for free!

Which wireless carriers are supported?
TextJump can currently send to Verizon Wireless, Alltel, Cingular, Nextel, NTELOS, Sprint PCS, Virgin Mobile, T-Mobile, AT&T Wireless, US Cellular, Unicel, Cricket and MetroPCS cellphones. More may be added in the near future.

What if I don't know their cell provider?
You will still be able to send a text message to them, but replies will be disabled. If you want a reply, you'll need to find out which cellphone provider they use by asking them.

How long can the message be?

Right now, our services are set for 120 characters per message. This may increase in the near future.

Why would I want to text when I call?
The whole purpose of text messages are to send quick messages/notes to people. Also, another reason why somebody would choose texting over calling is that in bad service areas, a user may experience dropped calls and bad reception so it would be hard to talk. Texting only requires a small amount of service to send a message so the text message will almost always get through.

Will they know whom it's from, or do I have to sign my name?
If you're using your TJ Plus account, your messages will arrive w/your name and TextJump account.
If you're using the Basic service, you can enter a sender name, which they will see. All messages are sent via each computer IP address as well.

Can I text more than one person at a time, say up to 4 people?
Party Send is now available! This feature allows you to send a text message to 10 of your friends with one button! Save time and Party Send!

Can I save certain messages sent to the computer?
You can always highlight text on the screen, right-click and choose copy. You can then paste that text into another program, be it Notepad or MSWord.
